The ROAD AHEAD

Recently I received very good health news with excellent blood work and a good Catscan. Progress. I have been receiving significant treatment and medicine over the last two years. This does not end all of those treatments, but I am now able to reduce in frequency that most toxic one. Great news!

I have lots of plans for the future. Not just riding across the country again, but ongoing routines and interests - upping my strength, learning Spanish, writing more on various topics including politics and so on.

I will be updating this blog from time to time and hope to hear from you and your health ideas.

Cheers,

Jerry

Thanks for sharing your story, it's very inspirational. We believe that faith and a positive attitude are very important in fighting this thing. My Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April. It's been a very bumpy road. My sister and I are urging him to get a second opinion. The primary origin of the cancer was not found so is in-operable. Cancer is stage IV because it has metastasized. He's getting chemo once a week, Gemzar. We've asked the doctor about a combination of immuno or biologic therapy along with chemo treatment. Also asked whether he should be on combo of chemo (like Tarceva along with Gemzar). Doctor seems unwilling to try anything different. My sister begged/cried over the phone just to get this doctor to see my Dad in the first place. My impression is that this doctor is going to stick with standard treatment. Thanks for sharing the info about how you switched doctors, this has given me hope that we can find someone who will do a better job of treating Dad.

Keep the faith!

Thanks for the great story...my husband was diagnosed in Mid May.
He was immediately (12 hours)sent to Northwestern in Chicago. 10 days later he had whipple surgery performed by Dr Wayne. Good news.... the cancer was stage 1, had not spread to any lymph nodes, and all margins are clear. 8 months later treatment is done and he is exercising daily...eating all fresh organic fruits and veggies, dates, and apricots and drinking POM juice and green tea ...he is also drinking ojibwa tea, taking He Shu Wu, immune defense pills and multi-vitamins. We never look back only forward!
